Where to go.

Do you do the classic Everest trek? The Annapurna trek? Or both? Several other options worth considering are the Langtang, Helambu, or Jomsom regions.

Time is obviously a factor that has to be considered. The Lukla to Everest trek for instance will take around 15 days, whereas a complete trek around the Annapurna range will need around 18 days. Add on to that a couple of days in Kathmandu at each end of the trek, plus 2 or 3 days to allow for any delays and you are looking at between 3 and 4 weeks in total.

The vast majority of trekkers opt for either the Everest trek or a trek in the Annapurna region. If your time is limited, it is always worth doing a shorter trek to begin with and then returning on another occasion to spend time on a longer trek. Spend some time reading the literature that is available; it will give you many options including the one of designing a trek to suit your own circumstances.

The choices are infinite, from following a classic trek route to making up your own tailor-made journey. A word of warning however; once is never enough!
