When to go.
Autumn is the main trekking season
and runs from the end of September through until
early December. At that time of year, the weather
is mainly dry, the days are sunny, and clarity
in the mountains is superb. It is the best time
to go even though the lodges can get a little
crowded at times.
Springtime is the next best time
to visit Nepal. The weather from March through
to May is warm and dusty, but with rain showers.
In Kathmandu it can be warm and sticky but up
in the hills it is quite pleasant; just be prepared
for a few showers now and then.
Summertime brings with it the
monsoon rains that fall as snow in the mountains.
On lower level treks, leeches can be a problem
although if you want to see the Himalayas in their
lush green state with the accompanying floral
glory then they are a small inconvenience.
Wintertime brings cold nights
and although mornings can be foggy to begin with,
the afternoons are mainly clear and quite pleasant.
Watch out for occasional snow in the mountains.
