The following books will give you accurate descriptions
of the trails to follow on your chosen trek as
well as suggested schedules. They are all written
to a high standard and I would recommend that
you carry the appropriate book on trek with you;
they are all handy sized. My copy of Trekking
in the Everest Region by Jamie McGuiness is very
well thumbed and is the first item I put in my
pack when visiting that area.

A little light reading is useful during the evening
on trek and the following books are highly recommended
- Escape from Kathmandu and The Ascent of Rum
Doodle are both hilarious fiction whereas Chomolungma
Sings the Blues is one man's account of his journey
in the Everest region.

Last, but not least, this little gem will help
you learn a few words of Nepali which may come
in handy. I believe that making a conscious effort
to converse with local people in their own language
can bring great rewards. Although there is now
hardly anywhere in Nepal that someone does not
understand at least a little English, the fact
that you have taken the trouble to learn a few
words of their native tongue will be appreciated.
Beware though; your mispronunciations will bring
out lots of beaming smiles and laughter!
