"Namaste"
and welcome to trekhimalayas.com. I hope that
you find the site useful.
The aim of the site is two-fold. Firstly, it is
a source of useful, up-to-date information targeted
at helping you organise your Himalayan trek. Secondly,
it is a means of staying in touch with people
you met on the trail. By subscribing to trekhimalayas.com,
you will be able to add your own experiences,
e.g. which lodges you think are worth staying
at, recommending hotels, restaurants etc, as well
as steer trekkers away from places to avoid. In
addition, you will be able to contact "trail buddies"
and post tales/pictures of your trek.
You can register as a site user to access more
of the site but why not subscribe? The cost is
only £12 - that is equivalent
to £1 per month - you can then
pass your knowledge on to other trekkers and keep
in regular contact with trekking friends worldwide.
My journeys in the Himalayas came to a halt four
years ago. A serious illness forced me to change
direction and left me with a lot of time on my
hands. It set me thinking. The books that are
available to would-be trekkers are fine and contain
a lot of extremely helpful info, but they cannot
keep pace with constant change fast enough. A
web site that is updated by trekkers themselves
while giving them the opportunity to keep in touch
with trail mates can, and so the idea was born.
Trekhimalayas.com will up-date the site regularly
and endeavour to give you the best advice on a
wide range of subjects. If you pass on your tips
etc through the site you will be helping trekkers
get the best experience possible of the Himalayas.
Keep your comments clean and the trails the same!
By the way - I am getting back to full fitness
so I will hopefully see you on the trail in the
not too distant future. Happy trekking! |
